I used to waste so much time copying and pasting one email to another, changing a few details here and there. Or, trying to use Google Templates. It was a waste of time and a nightmare.

And then, came Briskine. Briskine is a browser extension that creates templates and shortcuts. It doesn’t sound too exciting when I write it like that, but hear me out.

If you’re copying and pasting emails or email responses, you need Briskine.

If you’re trying to figure out how to use Gmail Templates, you need Briskine.

If you find yourself typing out every response because you don’t want to go look for that one email from 4 days ago that you could copy, you definitely need Briskine.

As a virtual executive assistant, I’m emailing all day. I’m in my and my clients’ inboxes everyday, all day long. And oftentimes, I find myself answering the same types of emails in the same ways with just personalized details here and there. This has been most common when I work with companies that do heavy sales and with venture capital firms.

Briskine has been a god-send, no exaggeration.

I used to copy and paste emails. Even at my most organized, I had Google Documents with all the various templates, and I would actually sit there and copy and paste the ones I needed. Until I learned about Briskine.

With Briskine, I write the template and give it a keyboard shortcut. Every time I want to use that template, I type in the shortcut and then hit “tab” and the whole template is pasted. It’s magical.

One of my templates is a rejection email from a VC to a founder. The email is about 3 paragraphs with a few personalized details. I input the skeleton of the rejection email into Briskine, put in extra spaces where the personalized details need to go, and then I label the email as “reject.”

Now, any time I need to use that template, all I do is type in “reject”, hit “tab”, and the template appears. I fill in the personalized details and send it off. No more looking for previous emails, or copying and pasting for a Google Doc.

Want to plug a launch or a product when talking to potential clients? Type the template into Briskine, and give it a shortcut. Let’s say, “launch.” The next time you’re writing to a potential client and you want to plug your launch, just type in “launch”, and hit “tab.” Your template will appear.

Sending your Calendly link to people and having to get your Calendly link each time? Create a template in Briskine. Write your template, “Please find a time on my Calendly that makes the most sense for you: link.” Label it as “cal” and now, everytime you want to send that sentence, just type in “cal” and hit “tab.”

You get the idea. Go install it.
